Our Background

How We Got Our Start

One fine afternoon long time friends and coworkers - Ipsita Chowdhury, Nilanjana Misra, Ruchira Chanda, Arijit Chanda and Partha Roy Chowdhury are reliving their childhood Durga Pujo moments in their own living room and are recounting how much fun it used to be whenever their parents would get together with other parents and organize Durga Pujo each and every year. The nostalgia of adda over Pujo preparation, and the endless chorcha of music, dance, drama and food, still too fresh in their minds inspire them to start their own Barir Pujo with their respective families in the year 2016. Fast forward to 2018, 12 enthusiastic members including Bengalis and Non-Bengalis together form "Bengal Club of Bay Area" to bring their Barir Pujo to the people of Bay Area and thus giving everyone an opportunity to participate in Pujo festivities, Cultural programs, and partake in sumptuous food and sweets.
